Book Review: “Rantings Of A Bitter Childless Woman” — The Parenting Book’s Evil Twin, by Jeanne Bellezzo

Based on being a Professional Psychotherapist for the past 30 years, I am often asked to write reviews for book covers. Jeanne Bellezzo, a professional writer and editor herself, writes this recent book. I met Jeanne years ago when we were both participating in Triathlons.

In the wee-hours of the morning, shivering in the cold ocean air, this delightful woman introduced herself, and quickly had many of us giggling at ourselves as we struggled to get our wet suits on. In the years that followed, I got to know her in a variety of environments, and learned the depth of her heart, the talents of her mind, and the meaning that she brings to life. She is certainly not ‘bitter’ yet is a tad sharp, and very amusing!

She invited me to read her blog articles about being a childless woman. At first, I thought, why would I want to do that, I have children, how would I relate. Yet, as I read these sometimes harshly funny articles, I recognized my often naïve and inconsiderate actions as a mother. OOOPS…what was I thinking? In most cases, I was not thinking outside of my ‘Mom-box.’ I also began to gain greater insight into how many of my clients, and friends over the years, those women who chose to be childless, experience the world.

With her quick-witted sense of humor, and pure honesty, Jeanne brings a unique and fun perspective on raising children in today’s society, while giving a voice to a growing number of people who choose to create their lives in purposeful ways without children. Jeanne brings to light the importance for all of us to bring acceptance and humor to our life situation, and to those around us. This collection of articles is a quick read, it is for everyone to enjoy, will put a smile on your face, and would make a great gift!
