Who We Are
DARCIE BROWN, JD, MA,
Darcie is a Registered Associate Marriage and Family Therapist (supervised by Dr. Sara Gilman, PsyD, LMFT). Prior to becoming a therapist, Darcie was an attorney. After growing tired of feeling unfulfilled in her work, Darcie took a leap of faith and decided to pursue her Master's degree in Marital and Family Therapy. From this tremendous change, she learned that humans need purpose and meaning to feel fulfilled and that it's never too late to make a worthwhile change.
Darcie supports individuals and couples who seek more peace, contentment, and meaning in their lives. She works with clients to create more self-compassion and self-acceptance and improve their ability to tolerate difficult emotions and experiences that come with being human.
Her style as a therapist is integrative and holistic. She believes that the mind-body-spirit connection is integral to understanding the whole person. She values connection, creating safety, and allowing her clients to feel seen, heard, and understood.
In the therapy room, Darcie is warm, curious, and engaging and focuses on the uniqueness of her client's story. Her goal is to create a space where her clients feel comfortable showing up as they are. She honors where they are at in their journeys and holds space for hope and healing.
She draws from evidence-based, post-modern, and creative approaches depending on the client's needs and goals for therapy. This includes Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing Therapy (EMDR), Narrative Therapy, and Self-compassion, Mindfulness, and Writing Practices.
Aside from being a therapist, Darcie is a wife, dog mom, and writer. She enjoys spending time outside in the sunshine, hiking, cooking, and traveling.
