Jaclyn Chung is an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist, supervised by Sara Gilman PsyD, LMFT. Prior to becoming a therapist, Jaclyn explored careers in marketing, recruiting and teaching English abroad in Spain. Her personal psychotherapy transformed her life. Upon discovering this depth in self-awareness, and processing through traumatic events in her life, her openness to greater possibilities was ignited. With more agency over her identity, Jaclyn was able to easily expand her compassion in relationships and offer this to herself in her ongoing healing journey. This ongoing desire to grow and heal resulted in her embarking on becoming a professional counselor.

Jaclyn works with individuals and adolescents through issues including anxiety, depression, life transitions, trauma, issues of self-worth, grief, loss, and self-harm. She also works with couples and families facing communication problems, infidelity wounds, and parenting struggles. She is passionate about joining with her clients to uncover their beliefs about themselves, others, and the world, to offer compassion to themselves, and to find healthy coping strategies. She fosters an environment of safety, acceptance and curiosity.

Jaclyn draws from humanistic approaches specifically Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and includes mindfulness and compassion-based awareness. She also utilizes a trauma-informed modality called Organic Intelligence, a theory and clinical practice of human empowerment, resiliency, and compassion. Jaclyn is trained in EMDR Therapy Levels I and II through EMDRIA. She utilizes her natural leadership skills and her dedication to support the Mental Health field by serving on the Board of the North County California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists.

Jaclyn is also a wife and a dog mom. In her free time, she enjoys dancing, yoga, writing, skiing, traveling,  and spending time with friends.
