Dr. April Minjarez, Ph.D, LMFT

Dr. Minjarez is a California Licensed Psychologist and a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist, receiving her PhD in 2016 and her Master’s degree in 2006. With over 20 years of experience, she currently is an EMDR Trainer, facilitator, consultant and certified therapist. Dr. Minjarez was awarded 2021 EMDR Trainer of the Year through the EMDR Trauma Recovery Humanitarian Assistance Program.

Dr. Minjarez has served as an EMDR therapy consultant and trainer for clinicians across two branches of the military and three specialty programs as well as several non-profit agencies across the country. She is well-versed in EMDR therapy across the lifespan and across multi-cultural and socio-economic populations and she takes pride in bringing EMDR training to new clinicians, thereby enabling enhanced treatment for clients in their quest for healing. 

She has extensive clinical experience in behavioral health settings, including residential care, crisis shelters, child abuse programs, homeless shelters, military settings, and acute crisis stabilization units.  Her clinical expertise and direction have always been focused on trauma, including child abuse, sexual assault, combat trauma, loss, violence, and clients with long histories of multiple traumatic experiences.
