PAMELA BLAWUSCH, MA, LMFT
Pamela is a native Southern Californian who grew up in Los Angeles and relocated to San Diego to attend SDSU. After earning her Bachelor's Degree in English, Pamela worked as a firefighter for the city of San Diego.
In 1994, Pamela returned to graduate school, earning a Master of Arts in Counseling Psychology. She has worked in private practice in Carlsbad, CA for over 18 years.
Pamela co-created and co-owned a license preparation business -- A Personal Approach for Licensure Success. She trained MFT Interns for their California state board oral examinations with an 81% pass rate.
Pamela is not only a former firefighter but a current firefighter spouse. Her husband Scott is retired from Oceanside Fire Department. They have been married for nearly thirty years and have two college age children. As such, Pamela has special interest in the first responder lifestyle. Combining clinical skills with life experience, she brings a genuine understanding to her work.
In addition to her work with first responders and their families, Pamela specializes in healing grief and loss, improving couples' communication, strengthening relationships, trauma recovery, and stress management. She also enjoys addressing women's concerns such as career transitions, work-home balance, new motherhood, self-esteem and family dynamics.
An important part of Pamela's work is building and strengthening bonds between family and friends and the client's extended support system. Her counseling approach is collaborative and solution focused with an emphasis on emotional well-being. Through consideration of beliefs, values, thought and feelings, Pamela provides her clients with support for healthy change. Pamela finds the resilience of the human spirit endlessly inspiring.
